Formula Drift Atlanta 2011

Here are some pics and a sweeeeet documentary video by Dan Cyr of Drift Posse highlighting their trip down to FD Atlanta. All in all it was a good weekend, Matt Waldin in the HELIX Drift 350Z qualified 16th and made it to the top 16 round of competition. Plenty of chaos went on off the track as well, these guys seem to leave a trail of fire and chaos wherever they go. Good times as always.

The American Adventures of Dan Cyr

Over the past two years I have grown very fond of road trippin’ to Canada with the Drift Brigade team to shoot DMCC events and chill out with our brothers from the north. There is never a shortage of partying, tire smoke, twins, fire and carnage (especially if Damien drives on a track with K-rails at the entry).

I also really enjoy shooting alongside Canada’s media people like JAG, Jover, Karel C, Catherine, and of course Dan Cyr. This summer, Dan came to ‘merica with his brother Pat and the Drift Posse to run at FD Irwindale and I was lucky enough to meet up with them at XDC Phoenix. Pat absolutely hammered the competition and won with FD Pro-Am event in Irwindale, earning himself an FD License and some American coin.

Dan masterfully documented his trip south with a series of videos, and now that the XDC vid has been released (just in time for Chrismas), it’s time for me to post up all three and spread the love.

On behalf of the ShiftedFrame team, I also want to wish Pat best of luck in becoming Gardella Racing’s next sponsored driver. He has made the top three, and we are anxiously awaiting the results. Perhaps Pat will be with us on the full FD Circuit next year.

In other news, a BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG drift announcement is going to be made before the new year that I couldn’t be more excited about. Stay tuned for a full writeup on that, a year in review post from myself and the illantic team, and a preview of what’s to come in 2011.
